Chapter 5 - The Sunrise and the Heir

Two months later, the penthouse was filled with the soft, sweet sounds of newborn cries and morning sunlight pouring over the Chicago skyline.

I sat in the rocking chair by the glass balcony, gently cradling our healthy baby boy, Leo. His tiny fingers curled around mine, soft and perfect, untainted by the dark ambitions of the world outside.

Footsteps approached softly across the hardwood floor.

Lucas walked in, wearing a casual white shirt with his sleeves rolled up, carrying two steaming mugs of coffee. He stopped beside the rocking chair, looking down at us with a depth of love and devotion that still took my breath away.

He knelt down, pressing a gentle kiss against Leo’s forehead, then looked up at me.

"How are your legs?" he asked softly, his hand resting warm and steady on my knee.

"Healed," I smiled, leaning down to kiss his lips. "Completely healed. Just like the rest of us."

Lucas stood up, pulling me and the baby into a warm, unbreakable embrace. The shadows of the past were gone, washed away by the truth that had finally set us free.

We had survived the betrayal of a family built on greed, and in doing so, we had forged something unbreakable—a love and a home that no one could ever take away again.
