Chapter 9 - The New Foundation
Life didn't become perfect, but it became real.
Ethan eventually sold the Greenwich estate. He moved into a home that was smaller, simpler, and filled with the kind of life he had once ignored. He continued his work, but his priorities had shifted. He spent more time with his daughter, more time with Noah, and more time with Julia.
Julia began playing again, but not for the world. She played for the sheer love of it. She taught Lily how to play the violin, and she taught Noah how to read music.
They became a family—an unconventional one, perhaps, but a family nonetheless.
One afternoon, they were all in the garden, planting trees.
"Why are we planting so many?" Noah asked, his hands covered in dirt.
"Because," Ethan said, looking at Julia, "we’re building something that will last a long time."
