Chapter 6 - The Roots of Strength

Ethan spent the next forty-eight hours in a whirlwind of activity. He moved his money, he consolidated his assets, and he hired the best lawyers in the country. He wasn't playing defense anymore. He was playing offense.
But while he fought the corporate battle, he didn't ignore his home.
He moved Julia, Noah, and Lily to a separate, secure property he owned in the countryside. He gave them bodyguards, he gave them everything they needed, and he told them to stay put until it was safe.
"Why are you doing this?" Julia asked him as he stood on the porch of the country house, ready to leave.
"Because," Ethan said, looking at the trees that lined the property, their roots deep in the earth, "you were right, Noah. Roots are important. And I’m finally realizing where mine are."
Julia stepped toward him, placing a hand on his arm. "Ethan, you don't have to do this alone."
"I’m not doing it alone," he said. "I’m doing it for all of us."

He left that day, and for the first time in his life, he didn't feel alone. He felt a purpose that went beyond money, beyond status, and beyond the walls he had built around himself.
He returned to the city and began the fight. He used every resource he had, every secret he’d uncovered, and every ounce of leverage he’d earned. He wasn't just fighting for his company; he was fighting for a chance at a different kind of life.
