Two weeks after the airport incident, I drove out to the Texas Hill Country, renting a quiet, secluded cabin overlooking a sprawling expanse of cedar trees and rolling green hills.
The air was crisp and clean, carrying the scent of pine and rich earth.
I sat on the wooden porch rocking chair, holding a mug of tea, watching the sun dip below the horizon in a brilliant display of burnt orange and gold. My phone was turned off, left permanently inside the cabin. No emergency calls. No corporate audits. No manipulation.
