Chapter 9 - A New Dawn

Three months later, the corporate landscape of Atlanta had completely transformed.

The newly rebranded Sterling-Vivienne Enterprises stood as one of the most ethical, forward-thinking real estate and tech conglomerates in the country, with a strict corporate charter dedicated to supporting single mothers, fair labor practices, and transparent governance.

I sat in the corner office on the thirtieth floor—the very office Dominic had once believed he owned—wearing a sharp, tailored navy suit that commanded the room without needing to shout.

My assistant buzzed through the intercom.

"Ms. Sterling, the board of directors is ready for your quarterly strategy presentation."

"Thank you," I replied smoothly. "I'll be right there."

I stood up, adjusting the diamond-encrusted silver lapel pin on my jacket—a subtle family heirloom Victor had given me—and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window.

Down below, the city streets bustled with life. Cars moved in steady streams, pedestrians walked briskly beneath the autumn trees, and the world kept turning, indifferent to the fragile illusions of men who thought they could build empires on sand.

I touched the cold glass, remembering the cold reception desk, Chloe’s cruel smile, and the paper necklace Sophia had made.
