Chapter 6 - The Fall of the Prodigy

"Your... your brother?" Dominic choked out, staring at me as if he were seeing a ghost. For the first time in six years, the terrifying realization of who I actually was began to crack through his arrogant delusions. "What are you talking about? Your family is just... you're just a normal—"
"My maiden name is Sterling, Dominic," I said, my voice ringing out clearly across the silent ballroom.
The name hit the room like a physical blow.
Several prominent investors in the crowd gasped. The Sterling name was legendary in global finance, government policy, and institutional banking. People spent decades trying to secure a ten-minute meeting with a Sterling executive.
And Dominic had spent six years treating a Sterling like an inconvenient domestic servant.
"No," Dominic whispered, backing away until his spine hit the ice sculpture. "No, that's a lie. You worked as a freelance illustrator! You drove a Honda Civic!"
"I drove a Honda Civic because I wanted a normal life," I replied coldly. "I wanted a husband who loved me for who I was, not my family crest. But it turns out you didn't love me at all. You just loved the fact that my family's silent investments kept your failing company afloat while you pretended to be a self-made genius."
At that exact moment, the private elevator doors chimed again.
The doors slid open, and two men in immaculate charcoal suits stepped out, flanked by federal marshals and local law enforcement officers.
Leading them was a tall, imposing man with piercing dark eyes and an aura of absolute, untouchable authority.
My third brother.
Victor Sterling.
The ballroom fell into a terrified, pin-drop silence. Even the string quartet had stopped playing.
Victor walked across the marble floor with slow, deliberate strides, his gaze fixed entirely on Dominic, who looked as though he were about to collapse.
"Victor," I acknowledged quietly as he approached.
"Viv," Victor replied, his voice deep and steady. He glanced down at Sophia, who was still clutching her paper necklace, and his expression softened instantly. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small piece of chocolate, handing it to her. "Hello, sweetie. Did you bring a present for your daddy?"
Sophia beamed, holding up the colorful paper chain. "Yes! Look, Uncle Vic! I made it with glitter!"

"It's a masterpiece," Victor said gently, before his eyes snapped back up to Dominic. The warmth vanished instantly, replaced by an arctic, predatory chill.
"Dominic Cole," Victor said, his voice echoing off the vaulted ceilings. "On behalf of the Sterling Global Trust and the federal receivership board, you are hereby placed under arrest for corporate fraud, asset falsification, embezzlement, and conspiracy."
