That evening, I picked Sophia up from her elite private academy—an academy where she was known simply as a brilliant, creative little girl adored by her teachers and protected by an unshakeable family legacy.

As we walked hand-in-hand through the front doors of our penthouse home, Sophia ran straight to the coffee table, proudly placing a brand-new paper crown adorned with gold glitter and tiny star stickers right in the center.

"Look, Mommy!" she announced happily, her eyes sparkling with absolute joy. "I made a crown for the queen!"

I smiled, kneeling down to gently place the glittery paper crown on my own head.

"Thank you, my sweet princess," I whispered, pulling her into a warm, fierce embrace. "The queen accepts."

The nightmare of the past was buried deep in the past, locked away in a federal holding cell alongside the wreckage of a man's unearned arrogance.
