Chapter 6 – A Promise Kept
Months later, Alex invited Pretty and her mother to the opening of a new community center beside Jagalki Market.
There were no luxury decorations.
No celebrity guests.
Just families, teachers, and local shopkeepers.
Above the entrance hung a simple sign:
The Pretty Community Learning Center
Pretty's eyes grew wide.
"You named it after me?"
Alex smiled.
"No."
"I named it after the lesson you taught me."
Inside were classrooms, a free library, computer labs, and after-school tutoring for children whose parents worked long hours in the market.
Scholarships were available to every child willing to study.
When reporters asked Alex why he had invested millions into the neighborhood, he answered with the same sentence every time.
"Success means very little if it only changes your own life."
That evening, Pretty handed him a small drawing.
It showed the two of them carrying boxes together.
At the top she had written:

Alex quietly framed the picture and placed it in his office.
Whenever business became stressful, he looked at that drawing before making difficult decisions.
