Chapter 10 – The Market's Greatest Treasure

Another decade passed.
Alex eventually retired from public life.
He never asked for awards or monuments.
One quiet morning, he returned to Jagalki Market carrying nothing but a walking cane.
Pretty was waiting for him on the same bench where children now gathered after school.
Together they watched a new generation laugh, study, and help their parents close their stalls for the evening.
"Do you ever miss the power?" Pretty asked.
Alex smiled.
"I thought power was having people obey me."
He looked around the market.
"Now I know real power is leaving a place better than you found it."
Pretty nodded.
"And you did."
As the sun slowly disappeared beyond the rooftops, a group of children ran past them.
One little girl accidentally dropped a basket of fruit.
Before anyone could react, three strangers rushed over to help gather every apple.
No one argued.
No one walked away.
Helping had simply become normal.
Alex watched quietly.
"See that?" he whispered.
"That's the greatest investment I ever made."
Pretty looked at the children, then at the bustling market that had once been filled with fear.
It wasn't the buildings.
It wasn't the scholarships.
It wasn't even the park.
The true legacy was a community where kindness had become a habit, respect had replaced fear, and every generation taught the next that compassion is the strongest foundation anyone can build.

Sometimes history isn't remembered because of the people who held power.
Sometimes it's remembered because one honest child had the courage to change a single heart—and that heart helped change an entire city.
