Chapter 9 - THE NEW CHAPTER

Sarah joined us in Nashville, and the dynamic of our house changed. It was no longer a monument to the Carter legacy; it was a home. We hosted dinners for the workers, for the librarians, for the people who had once been invisible to us.
Ethan and Sarah were married in a small ceremony in the very same garden where I had been sprayed with the hose. But this time, there were no chandeliers, no couture gowns, and no cameras.
