Chapter 8 - THE STRENGTH OF THE FOUNDATION

When we returned to Nashville, the mansion felt different. The ghosts of the engagement party were gone, replaced by the reality of a home that was lived in and respected.
Ethan had replaced the garden hose. He had donated the old one to the local gardening club, but he had kept the footage—not to show people, but to remind himself.
"I keep it in my office vault," he told me. "Whenever I think about making a deal that feels wrong, or whenever I think about dismissing someone I shouldn't, I pull it out and watch it."

"And I remember that the most powerful person in that garden wasn't the one with the hose," he said, smiling. "It was the woman kneeling in the dirt, waiting for the truth to be revealed."
