Chapter 10 - The Unfinished Drawing

On a sunny Saturday afternoon, Ethan sat in the backyard of their new home.

Lily was now four, and she was sitting on his lap, drawing in a new sketchbook. She was sketching the house, the sun, and the people.

She turned the page and started something new.

It was a picture of him and Maria, standing together under the arch of roses.

“Is it finished?” Ethan asked, his voice thick with emotion.

Lily smiled, a wide, gap-toothed grin. “No,” she said. “We’re still adding to it.”

Ethan looked at Maria, who was standing on the porch, her violin case in her hand. He looked at Lily, then back at the drawing.

He realized that life, like the drawing, was never truly finished. It was a constant work of progress, filled with mistakes, growth, and the people who stayed when there was nothing left to take.

He leaned back, closed his eyes, and listened to the music of a life well-lived.

He was rich, after all. Wealthy beyond measure. And he finally knew the value of everything he had.
