Chapter 10 - The Table of the Free

As the evening approached, Cameron joined them on the floor, bringing a plate of fresh cookies she had baked herself.

Leo immediately scrambled into her lap, wrapping his small arms around her neck and pressing a soft, chocolate-smudged kiss to her cheek. "I love you, Cammy," he whispered.

"I love you too, Leo," she said, holding him tight.

Matteo looked across the toys at her. The most feared man in Manhattan reached out, his large, scarred hand gently covering hers. There were no contracts between them anymore, no financial leverage, and no debts to be paid. There was just a family built on the ruins of a dark empire.

"We're going to the park tomorrow, right, Cammy?" Leo asked, his eyes bright with excitement.

"Every day, Leo," Cameron smiled, looking from the boy to his father. "Every single day."
