Chapter 6 - The Final Verdict
The trial lasted six months. Vanessa was sentenced to ten years for her role in the kidnapping and the embezzlement. Elaine, however, provided testimony that implicated the high-level crime syndicate that had been running the city’s construction industry for decades. Her sentence was reduced, but she was barred from ever coming near her family again.
Adam stood on the courthouse steps as the final gavel fell. The reporters swarmed him, but he held up a hand, silencing them.
