Chapter 6 - The Leverage Point

The final showdown took place in the glass conference room of Sterling Real Estate. Caroline, Mark, and their high-priced legal team sat on one side; Rachel sat on the other, alone, with a single manila envelope.

"You have nothing," Caroline sneered. "We have the money to bury you in court for ten years."

Rachel opened the envelope. She pushed three photos across the table. They were high-resolution images of the medical tech contracts, along with bank routing numbers that traced back to Caroline’s personal accounts.

"The district attorney is waiting for my phone call," Rachel said. "I’m not interested in your money. I want full, sole custody of Ethan. I want you to sign a non-disparagement agreement that lasts for the rest of his life. And I want Mark to relinquish all rights, signing him over to me with no child support required, just so I never have to see your faces again."

Mark looked at Caroline, panic in his eyes. He knew she was guilty. He knew Rachel wasn't bluffing.

"Sign it," Mark whispered. "Or we go to prison."
