Chapter 7 - The Revelation

Christopher stood stripped of his influence, his wealth, and his dignity in front of fifty of the city's most influential citizens. He looked around wildly, searching for leverage, but found none. His associates had abandoned him, his security guards stood at ease under Arthur's gaze, and his own son looked at him not with anger, but with pity.
Unable to handle the weight of his own downfall, Christopher turned on his heel and stormed out of The Golden Oak, his heavy footsteps disappearing into the rainy night.
A heavy silence lingered in the restaurant.
Arthur turned slowly to face Mary. He looked at her uniform, her order pad, and finally into her eyes.
"You," Arthur said gently. "What is your name, young lady?"
"Mary, sir. Mary Lin," she answered, trying to keep her posture professional despite the adrenaline pumping through her veins.
"Mary," Arthur repeated. He glanced at Ethan, who was looking at Mary with profound gratitude. "My grandson tells me you stood up for him when no one else in this room had the courage to do so. You spoke to him in his language."
"I did what anyone should have done, sir," Mary said softly. "No one deserves to be humiliated for who they are."
Arthur smiled—a warm, genuine smile that transformed his stern face. "Courage and kindness are rare commodities these days, Miss Lin. Especially in places like this."
Julian, the manager, quickly scrambled forward, trying to salvage the situation. "Mr. Hale! Sir! I am so sorry for the disturbance! Mary was acting entirely out of line, I have already terminated her employment—"
Arthur held up a single hand, cutting Julian off instantly.
"Julian, isn't it?" Arthur asked, his voice dripping with disdain.
"Yes, Mr. Hale!"
"Who owns the building lease for The Golden Oak?" Arthur asked casually.
Julian blinked, confused. "Uh, the Hale Real Estate Group, sir."
"Which I currently control," Arthur noted smoothly. "You are fired, Julian. Effective immediately. Pack your things."
Julian's jaw dropped. He looked at Mary, then at Arthur, completely speechless, before turning and slinking away toward the back office.
Arthur looked back at Mary. "It seems this establishment is in need of new management. But first... Mary, would you join my grandson and me for dinner? As our guest."
Mary hesitated, feeling the folded eviction notice in her pocket. "Mr. Hale, I... I can't. I need to figure out my situation. I have bills..."

Ethan stepped forward. He reached out, gently taking Mary's hand, and signed slowly so she could read every movement clearly:
Please stay. You saved me tonight. Let us help you.
