Chapter 8 - The Syndicate’s Queen

Two years later, the Castellano estate in Coral Gables looked less like a fortified compound and more like a vibrant, living home.

The stone walls were still secure, and the security detail was still elite, but the oppressive atmosphere of fear and isolation had been completely replaced by the sound of children laughing in the courtyard.

Today, the grand terrace overlooking the Biscayne Bay was decked out in white silk ribbons, delicate white roses, and twinkling fairy lights. It wasn't a syndicate summit or a high-stakes business auction.

It was a wedding.

Inside the bridal suite, Hazel stood before a full-length mirror, adjusting the straps of her elegant, minimalist ivory silk gown. Her hair was swept back in soft waves, a delicate diamond hairpin—a family heirloom passed down by Dominic’s grandmother—sparkling against the dark strands.

The door opened, and Maya bounced into the room wearing a matching miniature flower girl dress, holding a basket full of pink and white rose petals.

“Mommy! You look like a real princess!” Maya squealed, spinning around in a circle.

Hazel laughed, kneeling down to hug her daughter tightly. “Thank you, my love. Are you ready to scatter some petals for daddy?”

“Ready!”

Just then, the door clicked open again, and Dominic stepped into the room.

He wore a tailored midnight-blue tuxedo with a sharp black silk lapel, looking every bit the ruthless syndicate king, but his dark eyes softened instantly the moment they locked onto Hazel in the mirror.

He stopped a few paces away, completely speechless for a moment.

“Well?” Hazel teased gently, standing up and turning around to face him. “Does the executive household manager pass inspection?”

Dominic walked across the room, closing the distance between them. He reached out, his hands resting gently on her waist, pulling her close against his chest.

“You were never just the manager, Hazel,” Dominic murmured, his voice thick with emotion. “You were the queen of this house from the very first night you walked onto that yacht and told my men how to run a nursery.”

Hazel smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck. “I had to. You guys were completely lost without me.”

“We were,” Dominic admitted without a hint of pride, leaning down to press his lips softly against hers.

A loud, exaggerated cough interrupted them from the doorway.

They broke apart to see little two-year-old Leo standing in the doorway, holding a teddy bear in one hand and looking up at them with big, curious brown eyes, completely ignoring the rules of romance.

Dominic let out a rich, booming laugh, picking up both Leo and Maya in one sweeping motion, holding them close against his sides while looking down at Hazel with an expression of absolute, unbreakable devotion.

“Come on, family,” Dominic said, a bright, triumphant smile crossing his face. “Let’s go let the world know who really runs the Castellano empire.”

Hand in hand, with their children leading the way, they walked out onto the sunlit terrace, stepping into a future built not on fear and blood, but on resilience, grace, and an unbreakable love that had started with a crying baby on a midnight yacht.
