Chapter 5 - Dawn Over Reforma

Three days later, the headline on the front page of every major financial and social newspaper in Mexico City sent shockwaves through the elite circles.
“Mystery Sheikh Acquires Majority Stake in Paseo de la Reforma Hotel—Appoints Former Staff Member as Head of Foundation.”
Inside the penthouse suite overlooking the sprawling, rain-washed valley of Mexico City, Lucía stood by the floor-to-ceiling window. She wore a simple yet elegant emerald dress, her hair pinned back naturally. On the coffee table behind her sat the repaired school jacket with the straightest zipper money and care could buy.
Daniel was in the next room, marveling at a private tutor explaining advanced robotics on a state-of-the-art tablet.
Footsteps approached softly behind her.
"The board meeting went as expected," Tariq said, stepping up beside her and handing her a cup of steaming mint tea. "Mr. Valdés has been permanently reassigned to a desk job in the basement archives, where he can shout at paperwork instead of people."
A small, genuine smile touched the corners of Lucía’s mouth. She took the cup, inhaling the familiar aroma of home.
"You didn't have to buy the hotel, Tariq," she said softly.

"I didn't buy it for the hotel," he replied, looking out at the golden morning sun finally piercing through the lead-gray clouds over Reforma. "I bought it because that was where my world finally stopped spinning in the dark."
Lucía turned her gaze to him, feeling the heavy, cold marble of her old life wash away in the warm light of a brand-new dawn. She took a sip of the tea, knowing that whatever came next, she would never be invisible again.
