Chapter 2: The Truth Behind the Message
The ballroom filled with whispers.
Guests sensed something was wrong.
Emma walked calmly toward Daniel.
“Look at me,” she said.
He did.
For the first time all morning.
“Did you send those messages?”
Daniel hesitated.
Then slowly shook his head.
“No.”
The room fell silent.
Chloe stepped backward.
“Daniel—”
“Stop,” he said.
His voice was sharper than anyone had ever heard.
Emma pulled out her phone.
For weeks she had ignored every painful notification.
Now she opened the messages again.
Daniel stepped closer.
“That isn’t my number.”
Confusion rippled through the crowd.
Chloe’s face turned pale.
Very pale.
Daniel looked at her.
“Why do you look nervous?”
Nobody answered.
Then Daniel’s best man approached.
“There’s something you need to see.”
He held up a tablet.
Security footage.
Three weeks earlier.
Inside Daniel’s home office.
Chloe sat alone at his desk.
Using his laptop.
Using his phone.
Sending messages.
Deleting call logs.
Blocking Emma’s number.
The evidence played on the large screen.
Every guest watched.
Every lie unraveled.
Chloe’s knees nearly buckled.
“You don’t understand,” she whispered.
“I love you.”
Daniel stared at her.
“No,” he said quietly.
“You loved winning.”
The words hit harder than any shout.
Tears filled Chloe’s eyes.
But nobody rushed to comfort her.
Because everyone had just watched what she had done.
She had stolen a wedding.
She had stolen months of trust.
And she had nearly destroyed two lives.
Security escorted her from the ballroom while guests stood frozen in stunned silence.
As the doors closed behind her, Emma finally exhaled.
The truth was out.
But the damage remained.
And now only one question mattered.
Could anything still be saved?
