The father was paralyzed with shock. He realized that Elena was planning to poison him to inherit his vast fortune, and his young daughter had either witnessed or uncovered the plot, using the hidden drawing to warn him.
The very next morning, the father called the police and his lawyers to the estate. When Elena walked downstairs into the living room, she froze, finding a squad of police officers already waiting. The father furiously slammed the secret drawing onto the table, pointing a finger directly at Elena: "You are under arrest for conspiracy to commit murder! My daughter has exposed the monster you are!"
Elena stared at the drawing, then suddenly burst into a manic, chilling laugh. She showed no fear; instead, she looked at the father with eyes full of profound pity. "You are still so arrogant and blind, aren't you?"

The father reeled, his mind spinning. "What kind of lie is this?!"
The doctor explained, "Three years ago, you were the one driving under the influence in a catastrophic accident. It caused you severe traumatic brain injury, leading to persecutory delusions and dissociative amnesia. The man lying in a pool of blood in Chloe's drawing... is your brother, who died in the crash you caused. And the vial Elena is holding? That is the anti-psychotic medication she has to force you to take every day to control your violent, manic episodes."
Elena walked over to Chloe, pulling the trembling girl into a protective embrace. The truth was staggering: every time the father suffered a delusional episode, he perceived Elena as an "evil stepmother" trying to harm his child. The gift wrapped in brown paper wasn't a drawing at all; it was a sharp object the father had forced Chloe to hide to "attack Elena." Elena had thrown it into the trash to protect the child from her unstable father.
