Chapter 5 - The Throne Reclaimed

One week later, the Russo estate on Lake Forest Drive looked entirely different.
The cold, oppressive silence that had choked the halls for years was gone, replaced by the bright, echoing sound of children’s laughter bouncing off the marble pillars.
In the grand garden, beneath the sprawling oak trees, a custom wooden swing set had been installed overnight.
Dante Russo sat on a stone bench nearby, watching as Evelyn pushed Lily on the swing while Lucas and Liam chased a golden retriever across the emerald-green lawn.
Harold Bennett walked up quietly, holding a silver tray with a cup of black coffee. He set it down on the table beside Dante, a faint, satisfied smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
“The legal team finalized the transfer of all remaining assets into Mrs. Russo’s name, sir,” Harold reported smoothly. “And Serena Bell’s whereabouts? Handled. She’s three states away, and she won't be bothering this family ever again.”
Dante took a sip of his coffee, his eyes tracking Evelyn as she laughed—a real, unburdened, beautiful laugh that he hadn't heard in half a decade.
“Good,” Dante said softly.
He stood up, walking across the grass toward his wife and children.
As he approached, Lucas stopped running, turning his sharp gray eyes toward his father. Without a word, Lucas reached into his pocket, pulled out a small, polished silver coin he had found earlier, and tossed it through the air.
Dante caught it effortlessly with one hand.
Lucas gave his father a small, knowing nod—the universal sign of a truce sealed in blood and silence.

Dante smiled back, slipping the coin into his pocket, and wrapped his arm securely around Evelyn’s waist as she leaned against his shoulder.
The storm was over. The silence was broken. And the king had finally come home.
