CHAPTER 4 — THE FAMILY THEY NEVER EXPECTED

Three months later, everything looked different.

Daniel stepped down as CEO and appointed a new executive team.

He kept ownership of the company but no longer allowed it to own him.

Weekends became sacred.

School events became mandatory.

Family dinners became routine.

For the first few weeks, Leo constantly checked to see if his father would disappear again.

Each time, Daniel stayed.

Slowly, the fear faded.

One evening, while helping Leo clean his room, Daniel found another dinosaur drawing.

This one showed three people.

Leo.

Daniel.

And Clara.

"What is this?" Daniel asked.

Leo shrugged.

"A family."

Daniel looked toward the kitchen where Clara was laughing while making dinner.

Over the past months, she had become part of their lives naturally.

Not because anyone planned it.

Because she cared.

And because she had always cared.

Daniel finally understood something important.

The woman who appeared at his door that night wasn't a stranger.

She was the person who had protected his son when he couldn't.

Months later, under a bright summer sky, Daniel and Clara married in a small ceremony attended by family, friends, and one very excited boy.

During the reception, Leo handed them a framed picture.

The same green dinosaur.

But this time the dinosaur wasn't alone.

It stood beside two larger dinosaurs and a small house.

Across the top, Leo had written:

"Nobody leaves anymore."

Clara cried.

Daniel smiled.

And Leo finally stopped worrying about who might disappear next.
