Part 2: The Mansion Begins to Talk
The music downstairs stopped.
Guests turned toward the grand entrance as twenty black SUVs rolled through the snow-covered driveway.
Men in dark overcoats entered first.
Silent.
Disciplined.
Dangerous.
Then Dominic Kane walked in.
No bodyguard announced him.
No one needed to.
The room changed the moment he crossed the threshold.
Senators suddenly looked nervous.
Judges avoided eye contact.
Even Grayson Langford's wealthy friends seemed to shrink.
Dominic removed his gloves slowly.
"Good evening."
His voice was calm.
Which somehow made it worse.
Grayson forced a smile.
"This is a private event."
Dominic glanced around the ballroom.
"Interesting."
He looked toward the staircase.

"Because your daughter just called me from a locked room begging for help."
Silence.
The kind of silence that hurts.
Grayson's wife laughed nervously.
"Harper has emotional problems."
Dominic's expression never changed.
"Then perhaps someone can explain why a mentally unstable woman was locked inside a room with a broken hand."
Nobody answered.
A few guests exchanged uneasy looks.
Then Dominic raised one finger.
His security chief stepped forward carrying a tablet.
Screens around the ballroom suddenly came alive.
The mansion's own security footage appeared.
Not edited.
Not filtered.
Raw recordings.
Harper being dragged through a hallway.
Paige slapping her.
Grayson shoving her into the library.
Guests gasped.
Someone dropped a champagne glass.
Another quietly walked toward the exit.
The Langford family stared in horror.
Dominic looked at Grayson.
"You said no one was coming."
Then he smiled.
"I came."
