Chapter 5 - Dawn of a New Life

Three months later, the Queens apartment felt entirely different.
The lights stayed on. The refrigerator hummed steadily in the kitchen. And on the dining table, a stack of hospital bills sat marked with a single, beautiful stamp: PAID IN FULL.
Savannah stood by the window of her new corner office on the fiftieth floor of the Sterling Tower, looking out over the sprawling Manhattan skyline as the morning sun broke through the clouds. Little Noah sat happily in a high-end playpen in the corner of her office, babbling cheerfully as a corporate nursery assistant handed him a rattle.
The door clicked open, and Harrison walked in holding two cups of coffee, handing one to her with a nod.
"Quarterly audit reports look clean," Harrison noted, leaning against the edge of her desk. "You've organized in three months what took my previous team a year to untangle."
"When you're used to stretching twelve dollars for a week, Mr. Sterling, every single decimal point matters," Savannah smiled, taking a sip of the coffee.
"Harrison," he corrected gently, looking past her toward the sunny window.

She looked down at her phone lying on the desk, remembering the cold, dark night in Queens when a single mistaken keystroke had terrified her. Life was unpredictable, messy, and often cruel. But sometimes, a single mistake could lead you exactly where you were supposed to be.
