Chapter 3 - The Trial of the CenturyKhloe survived.

So did the baby.
After six agonizing hours of surgery, Dr. Carter walked into the waiting room.
Marcus stood before he could speak.
Samuel smiled for the first time all night.
"They're both alive."
Marcus closed his eyes.
Relief hit him so hard he nearly collapsed.
Three weeks later, the trial began.
The courtroom overflowed with reporters.
Medical experts testified that the kick could easily have caused a fatal placental abruption.
Only immediate surgery had saved both mother and child.
Then prosecutors played the hospital surveillance footage.
The courtroom watched every second.
Khloe never struck Isabella.
Never threatened her.
Never even raised her voice.
She simply begged her to leave.
When the video reached the final kick...
Several jurors gasped.
One reporter quietly lowered her camera.
There was nothing sensational left to capture.
Only cruelty.
Isabella claimed she had acted in self-defense.
The prosecutor calmly replayed the recording.
Frame by frame.
"There is your defense," he said.
"Please point to the moment Mrs. Thorne attacked you."
She couldn't.
Her attorneys had no explanation.
The jury deliberated less than four hours.
Guilty.
On every charge.
Attempted murder.
Aggravated assault on a pregnant woman.
Filing a false police report.
Perjury.
The judge looked directly at Isabella before announcing the sentence.
"You believed wealth placed you above the law."
"Today, you discover it does not."

She was sentenced to decades in prison.
No appeal changed the outcome.
