Chapter 4 - The Breach at Sierra Madre

Within twelve minutes, Alejandro’s heavy SUV tore around the corner of Sierra Madre Avenue, its tires squealing against the asphalt as it skidded to a halt outside the monolithic iron gates of Mateo’s modernist mansion.
Parked just behind him was a black mobile medical van marked with private emergency insignia, followed instantly by two sirens wailing in the distance as San Pedro municipal ambulances approached.
Alejandro jumped out of his vehicle, his face carved from granite. He didn't bother pressing the intercom buzzer. He knew how Mateo’s security system worked—it was a biometric keypad tied directly to Mateo’s phone, which was currently sitting on airplane mode in a VIP club booth four miles away.
“Security team!” Alejandro commanded, waving over two private guards who had arrived in his escort vehicle. “Blow the electronic actuator on the secondary service gate. Use the hydraulic breach tool. We are going in right now!”
Hiss-crunch!
The heavy hydraulic jaws bit into the steel housing of the side gate. With a sharp groan of protesting metal and shattering plastic wiring, the electronic lock gave way, swinging the heavy iron gate wide open.
Alejandro sprinted up the manicured stone pathway, kicking open the unlocked heavy wood front door that Mateo had carelessly left unsecured in his haste to party.
“Camila!” Alejandro shouted, his voice echoing through the cavernous, silent foyer.
He rounded the corner past the modern art sculptures and stopped dead in his tracks.
There she lay.
At the bottom of the floating marble staircase. Pale as porcelain, surrounded by a dark pool of blood that had soaked into the marble grout.
“Doctor! Over here! Now!” Alejandro yelled back toward the open doorway.
Dr. Arriaga and two emergency paramedics rushed into the foyer with trauma bags, oxygen tanks, and a portable stretcher. Instantly, the quiet mansion transformed into a flurry of frantic, professional medical urgency.
“Pulse is thready and rapid! Blood pressure is dangerously low!” Dr. Arriaga called out, her hands moving with lightning speed as she checked Camila’s vitals and applied an oxygen mask over her face. “She’s going into acute hemorrhagic shock! Prepare an immediate emergency C-section kit! We can’t wait for transport; her placenta is abrupting!”
Alejandro stood frozen for a fraction of a second, his fists clenched so tightly his fingernails dug into his palms. He looked down at Camila’s pale, lifeless face as the medics lifted her fragile body onto the stretcher.
“Save her, Sofía,” Alejandro whispered, his voice trembling with a fierce, quiet intensity. “Save her and the baby. Whatever it takes.”
“Get out of our way, Alejandro! Let us work!” Dr. Arriaga ordered, wheeling the stretcher toward the waiting ambulance outside, the flashing red lights painting the minimalist white walls in streaks of crimson.
As the doors of the ambulance slammed shut and tore down the street toward the hospital, Alejandro stood alone in the grand foyer of Mateo’s empty mansion.
He looked down at the floor, spotting Camila’s shattered smartphone lying in a pool of blood. He reached down, picked it up with a clean handkerchief, and slipped it into his pocket.

Then, he pulled out his own phone, dialed his lead corporate attorney, and spoke with a cold, terrifying calm.
“Marcus. Wake up. I need every financial dossier, property lien, and corporate vulnerability we have on Mateo Alvarez compiled on my desk by 7:00 a.m. His empire is about to collapse, and I want to be the one holding the hammer.”
