Chapter 3 – Everything He Built Was a Lie

Three months later...

The courtroom was packed.

Reporters filled every seat.

Ryan no longer wore tailored Italian suits.

He wore a plain gray jail uniform.

The prosecution displayed every piece of evidence.

Forged signatures.

Hidden bank accounts.

Luxury purchases.

Corporate theft.

False loan applications using the Cole Family name.

Even worse...

Ryan had secretly borrowed millions against businesses he never owned.

He had expected to inherit everything through me.

When my mother became sick, he accelerated every scheme.

The jury needed less than three hours.

"Guilty."

Every count.

Ryan turned toward me as deputies prepared to escort him away.

"I loved you."

His voice shook.

I stood calmly.

"No."

"You loved what belonged to me."

He lowered his head.

For the first time...

There was no audience left to impress.

His girlfriend had already testified against him in exchange for reduced charges after admitting she had helped hide stolen assets.

The mansion remained exactly where it had always belonged.

With the Cole family.

But I no longer saw it as a symbol of wealth.

It had become proof that integrity cannot be inherited.

Only protected.
