Chapter 5 - New Horizons

The sun was setting over the Chicago skyline, casting a brilliant, fiery orange glow across the glass facade of Whitmore Global Headquarters—formerly Holloway Systems, now fully restored and expanded under my sole leadership as CEO.
I stood on the balcony of my executive office on the thirty-sixth floor, looking down at the bustling streets below.
The air was warm, smelling of spring and clean lake water. My arm had long since healed, leaving no physical trace of the cane that had once been used to break me. But the scars had transformed into armor.
A soft knock sounded at the office door.
"Come in," I said without turning around.
The door opened, and my father stepped inside, carrying a bottle of vintage champagne and two crystal flutes.
"Working late, CEO Whitmore?" he asked with a warm smile.
I turned around, leaning against the glass railing, and laughed. "Just reviewing the Q2 expansion plans for our European division. Turns out, when you actually know how to build a company from the ground up, things run a lot smoother."
My father poured the champagne into the crystal flutes, handing one to me.
"To new beginnings," he toasted, raising his glass.

We drank, the crisp, effervescent bubbles warming my chest. Down on the street, the city lights flickered to life, stretching out into an endless sea of possibility. I took a deep breath of the evening air, feeling entirely, beautifully free.
