Chapter 3 – The Wedding That Stopped Time

The July sun shone brightly over the private runway.
Hundreds of guests filled rows of white chairs.
Television cameras captured every moment.
Julian stood beside Victoria beneath an arch of white roses.
He looked calm.
But not happy.
The officiant smiled.
"We are gathered here today..."
A distant engine interrupted him.
Everyone turned.
A sleek white private jet slowly taxied toward the ceremony.
Guests whispered.
"Another Prescott investor?"
"Maybe a senator."
The aircraft door opened.
Silence settled over the runway.
A woman in a flowing crimson dress stepped into the sunlight.
Julian's heart stopped.
"Clara..."
She walked down the stairs with quiet confidence.
Then...
Three identical four-year-old children appeared behind her.
Two little boys.
One little girl.
All wearing matching pale-blue outfits.
All with Julian's unmistakable hazel eyes.
The children laughed as they ran down the red carpet toward the wedding guests.
Every conversation died.
Vivian's smile disappeared.
Victoria lowered her bouquet.
Julian couldn't breathe.
Emily stopped directly in front of him.
She tilted her tiny head and looked up with innocent curiosity.
"Mommy says you're Julian."
Clara nodded gently from several feet away.
"Yes, sweetheart."
Emily smiled politely.
Then asked the question no one would ever forget.
"Daddy..."
"...why weren't you there when we were born?"
The entire ceremony froze.
A champagne glass slipped from someone's hand and shattered against the runway.
No one moved.
No one spoke.
Julian slowly knelt before the three children.
His hands trembled.
"What... did you call me?"
Emily looked confused.
"Mommy said you're our daddy."
Tears filled Julian's eyes.
He looked toward Clara.
"You were... pregnant?"
Clara nodded.
"With all three."
Vivian staggered backward.
"That's impossible!"
Clara calmly reached into her handbag.
She removed three birth certificates.
Three baby photographs.
Hospital records.
And one sealed envelope.
"The DNA results you demanded before our engagement."
Julian opened it with shaking hands.
He stared at the doctor's signature.
Then the words beneath it.
'Natural conception remains possible despite reduced fertility.'
His knees nearly gave way.

Vivian had hidden the final page.
The page that explained everything.
