PART 2

Lucía's hand slowly moved toward the door handle.
Alejandro noticed.
"If I wanted to hurt you," he said calmly, "I would have left you in the rain."
The truck behind them was still following.
Lucía stared at him.
"Then why is my stepmother calling you?"
For a moment, nobody spoke.
Only the sound of rain hammering against the windows filled the car.
Finally Alejandro answered.
"Because Teresa has been hiding something from you for twenty years."
Lucía felt her stomach tighten.
Alejandro unlocked his phone and handed it to her.
The message from Teresa was short.
FIND HER.
DON'T LET HER TALK TO ANYONE.
Lucía's blood ran cold.
"Why would she send that to you?"
"Because she doesn't know whose side I'm on."
The truck suddenly accelerated.
Marcos cursed under his breath.
"They're getting closer."
Alejandro's expression hardened.
"Take the tunnel."
The SUV swerved sharply into a side road.
Behind them, the pursuing vehicle nearly lost control.
Lucía grabbed the seat.
"What is happening?"
Alejandro looked directly at her.
"Your father never went bankrupt."
The words hit her harder than Teresa's slap.
"What?"
"He discovered someone was stealing millions from Grupo Rivas."
Lucía shook her head.
"No. My father died after the company collapsed."
Alejandro's eyes darkened.
"That's what Teresa wanted everyone to believe."
Silence filled the car.
Then Alejandro said the sentence that changed everything.

"Lucía... I don't think your father's death was an accident."
And somewhere across the city, Teresa Rivas realized Lucía had escaped with the one man who knew the truth.
