Chapter 6 - The Sentence of the Hudson

Dominic stood up. He walked to the window and looked out at the rolling hills of his estate. The sun was fully up now, casting long, golden shadows across the snow-covered lawn.
"Seventeen years, Nathan," Dominic said. "I would have given you my life."
"You gave me your scraps, Dom," Nathan spat back.
Dominic turned around. He looked at Marcus and Daniel. "Take them downstairs. Not the cellar. The garage."
"Dom, wait!" Claire screamed as Daniel grabbed her by the arm, dragging her off the bed. "I didn't do anything! It was all Nathan! He forced me!"
"You bought the lock, Claire," Dominic said, his voice barely above a whisper. "And you watched a little girl cry for three days while you slept in my bed."
As the guards dragged them out, Nathan didn't scream. He looked at Dominic one last time, a dark, twisted smile on his face. "I'll see you in hell, brother."
"Not if I'm there first," Dominic said.
When the room was quiet again, Dominic walked over to the chaise lounge. Dr. Aris was wrapping Mia in a heavy thermal blanket. Her color was returning, and her eyes were clear.
"Mr. Vale," she whispered, her voice trembling. "What are you going to do?"
Dominic reached down, gently patting Harper’s head. "I’m going to make sure this house is safe for you. For both of you."

"And the Morettis?"
"They’ll be busy," Dominic said. "They’re about to lose their main suppliers."
