Chapter 4: The End of the Nightmare

Six months later, everything was over.

Teresa was convicted for assault.

Diego received charges related to domestic violence.

Neither of them ever expected consequences.

They expected obedience.

Instead, they lost everything.

The inheritance vanished.

The family reputation disappeared.

Most of the relatives cut contact completely.

As for me...

I kept my apartment.

I kept my dignity.

And for the first time in years, I slept peacefully.

One Sunday morning, I sat on my balcony drinking coffee while the city slowly woke beneath me.

The scars on my legs were still there.

They probably always would be.

But they no longer reminded me of pain.

They reminded me of survival.

My phone buzzed.

A message from an unknown number.

I hesitated before opening it.

It was Diego.

Just three words.

"I was wrong."

I stared at the screen for a long moment.

Then I deleted the message.

No reply.

No anger.

No revenge.

Just silence.

Because some people think forgiveness means giving them another chance.

It doesn't.

Sometimes forgiveness simply means refusing to let them hurt you anymore.

I stood up and looked around the apartment I had fought so hard to keep.

My apartment.

My future.

My life.

And for the first time since that terrible morning when Teresa entered with her secret passcode, I smiled.

Not because I had won.

May you like

But because I was finally free.

THE END.
