Chapter 2: The Evidence They Never Expected

I looked directly into Margaret Prescott's eyes.

Then I said four simple words.

"You're already too late."

Her smile faltered.

Only slightly.

But I saw it.

The crack.

The first sign that her confidence wasn't as solid as she wanted everyone to believe.

"What exactly does that mean?" she asked.

I reached into my jacket and removed a small flash drive.

"I came here straight from Fort Liberty," I said calmly. "But before I arrived, I made several phone calls."

Ethan folded his arms.

"You think a few accusations will hurt us?"

"No," I replied.

"I think evidence will."

The room became silent.

One of the nurses stepped closer.

The attending physician remained near the doorway.

Listening.

Watching.

I turned toward Emily.

"Honey, do you remember the emergency GPS application I insisted you install last year?"

Emily blinked.

Then slowly nodded.

"The one connected to your watch?"

"Yes."

Margaret's face changed.

The confidence vanished completely.

Because now she understood.

Emily's watch had transmitted location data.

Every minute.

Every hour.

Every day.

Including the three days she had supposedly been "vacationing" at the Prescott family estate.

The flash drive contained everything.

Security footage.

Phone records.

GPS tracking.

Witness statements.

And one recording.

A recording Emily had secretly captured after Ethan confiscated her phone.

The nurse handed me a hospital laptop.

I inserted the drive.

The audio began playing.

Margaret's voice filled the room.

"If she leaves Ethan, ruin her reputation. No one will believe her over us."

Then Brandon's voice.

"Take her phone. She'll stop fighting after a few days."

Finally Ethan.

Cold.

Emotionless.

"She belongs to this family now."

The recording ended.

Nobody spoke.

Not even the Prescotts.

For the first time, they had nothing to say.
