CHAPTER 3: THE CHRISTMAS WEDDING
A year later, life looked very different.
Mariana had become manager of Alejandro's ranch.
Sofía attended a wonderful school nearby.
For the first time, they had stability.
A home.
A future.

One snowy December evening, Alejandro invited them to the ranch's Christmas celebration.
Hundreds of employees gathered around a giant tree decorated with golden lights.
Sofía ran through the crowd laughing.
Then Alejandro took the microphone.
"I have something important to say."
The crowd became quiet.
Mariana looked confused.
Alejandro walked toward her.
Every heartbeat seemed to stop.
Then he knelt on one knee.
Gasps filled the room.
Tears immediately formed in Mariana's eyes.
A small velvet box appeared in his hand.
"A few years ago, I found a brave mother sitting alone at a bus station."
His voice trembled slightly.
"She had nothing except love for her daughter."
Mariana covered her mouth.
Alejandro smiled.
"That woman taught me that wealth means nothing without kindness."
Then he opened the ring box.
"Mariana Salazar, will you be my wife?"
The crowd erupted.
Sofía began jumping up and down.
"Say yes, Mama! Say yes!"
Mariana laughed through her tears.
For a moment she remembered the cold bench.
The hunger.
The fear.
The loneliness.
Then she looked at the man who had offered her dignity when the world offered only judgment.
"Yes," she whispered.
Alejandro smiled.
"What was that?"
"YES!"
The crowd cheered.
Sofía threw her arms around both of them.
One year later, they were married in a beautiful Christmas ceremony.
And as Mariana walked down the aisle, she realized something extraordinary.
The day she thought her life had ended at that bus station had actually been the day a new life began.
Not because a millionaire saved her.
But because someone finally saw her worth.
And sometimes, that changes everything.
