Chapter 5 - The Ending of the Cycle

The aftermath was silent. The Rossi estate was purged. The men who had followed Antonio vanished, and the world of the Mafia, with its shifting loyalties and hollow promises, was left behind in the ruins of the mansion.

I didn't stay in New York.

We moved to a place where the air was clean and the ghosts couldn't follow.

I sat on the porch of a small house overlooking the Mediterranean. Isabella was running along the beach, her laughter carrying on the salt breeze—a sound that still felt like a miracle.

Sophia and Emma were with us, their lives entwined with ours now, not as servants, but as the only people who had truly understood the depth of the darkness.

The silver charm hung around Isabella’s neck, a reminder of the mother who had died to protect her, and the little girl who had reminded her how to walk.

I looked at my hands. They were clean of blood for the first time in my adult life.

“Papa!” Isabella shouted, running toward me. She dove into my arms, her legs strong, her heart steady.

“I’m here,” I said, pulling her close.

I knew the past would always be a part of us. I knew that in the shadows of the world, there were still people who would want to take what I had. But as I watched Emma playing in the sand, and Isabella laughing in the sunlight, I realized the truth.

The legacy hadn't been the money, or the power, or the ports.

The legacy was the ability to stop running.

I looked at the horizon, where the sea met the sky, and for the first time, I didn't see an enemy. I saw the future.

The Rossi name would continue, not in violence, but in the quiet, simple act of existing. And as the sun went down, casting its warmth over the life I had almost thrown away, I finally closed my eyes and let the silence take over.

We were home.

And for the first time, we were safe.
