Victoria stood frozen alone in the center of the hall

Victoria stood frozen alone in the center of the hall, the glittering lights of the ballroom behind her now feeling like a mockery. Her mouth gaped open in horror.

The small brass key slipped from her trembling fingers, hitting the polished stone floor with a sharp, echoing clink.

The truth was out. Julian had found it. While playing in the study, the boy had opened an old digital file on an unsecured tablet—a file containing the real Victoria Sterling.

Blackmail records, fraudulent corporate schemes, and the identities of the men she had ruined to get to the top.

When Victoria caught him, panic had overridden her pragmatism. She had locked the child away, planning to retrieve the tablet and delete the evidence before anyone noticed his absence.

She thought she could control the narrative. She thought her beauty and charm made her invincible.

She was wrong.

Arthur stopped just inches away from her. He didn't yell. He didn't raise his hand. But the sheer authority and disgust radiating from his towering frame made Victoria want to sink into the floor.

He looked at her lashing blonde hair, her sparkling gown, her expensive makeup, and saw nothing but a hollow, hideous monster.

He reached down, slowly and deliberately adjusting the gold cufflink of his tuxedo, a gesture of absolute, terrifying control. Then, he looked her straight in the eyes one last time. His gaze was completely cold, resolute, and dead.

"You locked a child away... to protect your miserable lie," Arthur said, his voice a low, vibrating growl of utter contempt.

Victoria's knees buckled. Her pupils dilated sharply as the sheer weight of her ruin crashed down on her. The money, the status, the Vance name—everything she had sacrificed her soul for—vanished in a single breath.

Arthur turned his back on her, walking away toward his son and Clara, his silhouette tall and unyielding against the opulent lights of the estate.

The frame froze on her face—a mask of beautiful ruin, filled with a sudden, overwhelming torrent of regret and utter despair
