Chapter 3 – The Truth Beneath the Mansion

Instead of trying to move Eleanor herself, Aaliyah quietly locked the basement door from the outside to keep Eliza from returning unnoticed.
She stepped into the garden, hands trembling, and dialed 911.
"I need police and an ambulance immediately," she said. "I found a woman imprisoned in the basement of the Kingsley estate. I have video evidence."
Within minutes, flashing lights surrounded the mansion.
The gala came to an abrupt halt as officers entered through the front doors.
Guests watched in stunned silence.
Victor hurried toward the lead detective.
"What is happening?"
Before anyone answered, Aaliyah stepped forward.
"Sir... I need you to come with me."
Confused, Victor followed her downstairs.
The basement door swung open.
"Eleanor?" he whispered.
His mother's eyes slowly opened.
"Victor..."
The tray fell from his hands.
He rushed across the room, dropping to his knees beside her.
"Mom..."
Tears streamed down his face as officers removed the chains from her wrists.
"I thought you were dead."
Eleanor gently touched his cheek.
"Someone wanted you to believe that."
The detective turned toward Eliza.
"Mrs. Kingsley, you're under arrest."
She laughed nervously.
"This is ridiculous."
But Aaliyah handed over the phone containing the recording.
The room fell silent as Eliza's voice echoed from the speaker:
"Sign the inheritance papers... or this ends."
"I'd rather die."
"That can be arranged."
No one spoke.
Not even Eliza.

She lowered her head as officers placed handcuffs on her wrists.
The guests who had admired her elegance moments earlier stepped aside in disbelief.
