Chapter 10 - Reign of the Queen

Six months later, the annual Casaro Gala was held at the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel.

Hundreds of high-ranking syndicate bosses, politicians, judges, and elite business moguls filled the glittering room, dressed in custom tuxedos and designer evening gowns.

At the center of the grand staircase, the double doors opened.

The murmurs in the room instantly died down.

I descended the steps wearing a custom-tailored, floor-length midnight-blue velvet gown embroidered with subtle silver thread. Around my neck hung a diamond necklace that had belonged to Italian royalty, and on my finger, the heavy sapphire ring sparkled like a beacon of absolute power.

Waiting at the foot of the stairs was Leo Casaro, dressed in an impeccably fitted black tuxedo. He held out his hand, his eyes burning with fierce, unapologetic devotion.

I placed my hand in his, and together, we walked out onto the grand ballroom floor to open the dance.

As we spun under the brilliant crystal chandeliers, I looked around the room and saw powerful men bowing their heads in respect—not just out of fear of the Don, but out of absolute deference to the woman standing beside him.
