THE WEDDING THAT NEVER HAPPENED

The bride's name was Rachel.

And suddenly she had questions.

Lots of questions.

"You told me she was obsessed with you."

Silence.

"You told me she invented the pregnancy."

More silence.

Rachel's eyes filled with tears.

"Was any of it true?"

Daniel couldn't answer.

Because the answer was no.

Vivian stepped forward immediately.

"Rachel, don't listen to her."

But Rachel was already shaking her head.

"No."

She pointed toward the baby.

"That child exists."

Then she pointed at Daniel.

"And you abandoned him before he was born."

The words landed harder than any slap.

For months, Daniel had blamed everyone except himself.

His mother.

His lawyers.

His anger.

His pride.

But standing in that hospital room, staring at his son, excuses no longer worked.

Rachel slowly removed her engagement ring.

Daniel's eyes widened.

"Rachel..."

She placed it in his hand.

"I was supposed to marry a good man today."

Tears streamed down her face.

"I don't know who you are."

Then she turned and walked out.

The wedding dress disappeared through the doorway.

She never came back.

Vivian called after her.

But it was useless.

The wedding was over before it ever began.
