Chapter 2: The Fall

Chaos erupted.

Vanessa was the first to panic.

"You can't do this!" she shouted.

One of the attorneys handed her a legal notice.

"We already have."

Inside the mansion, staff members began receiving new instructions.

The house manager approached my father.

"Sir, should we prepare the master suite for Miss Claire?"

"Immediately."

The same staff who had watched me suffer now hurried to obey.

Not because they suddenly respected power.

Because power had finally revealed itself.

Adrian grabbed my arm.

"Claire, wait."

My father stepped between us so quickly Adrian recoiled.

"You lost the right to touch her."

Adrian looked at me desperately.

"You can't destroy everything because of one mistake."

One mistake.

The words almost made me laugh.

Ten years of lies.

Ten years of manipulation.

Ten years of treating love like ownership.

And he called it one mistake.

Vanessa suddenly removed the diamond necklace.

"Take it back."

She held it toward me.

I stared at the pendant my mother had left me.

Then I shook my head.

"Keep it."

She blinked.

"What?"

"I don't want anything that's been around either of you."

The humiliation hit harder than any insult.

An hour later, movers arrived.

Not to remove my belongings.

To remove theirs.

By midnight, Adrian and Vanessa stood outside the same gates where they had abandoned me.

No mansion.

No authority.

No access.

Only suitcases sitting in puddles.

For the first time in years, I felt absolutely nothing for him.

No anger.

No sadness.

No love.

Only peace.
