Detectives interviewed relatives throughout the week.
At first everyone defended my parents.
"They believed in discipline."
"They were strict."
"That's how they were raised."
Then one elderly aunt quietly admitted something.
"I saw Richard hit Brandon with that same belt."
Another cousin spoke.
"He broke Nicole's wrist when she was twelve."
Then an old neighbor came forward.
"I called Child Protective Services twice."
Records that everyone believed had disappeared...
had been archived.
School reports.
Medical visits.
Teacher concerns.
Each document alone looked insignificant.
Together...
they revealed decades of abuse.
