Chapter 2: The Evidence They Never Expected
I stood frozen behind the doorway, listening to every word.
My husband laughed as he flipped through the documents.
"By next month, everything will be mine."
The woman beside him smiled.
"You should've done this years ago."
My hands trembled, but I forced myself to stay silent.
Instead of confronting them, I quietly pulled out my phone and started recording.
Every word.
Every confession.
Every lie.
Then I slipped back out of the house unnoticed.
That night, I barely slept.
The next morning, while Michael acted like the perfect husband over breakfast, I contacted an attorney.
After reviewing the recording, the lawyer's expression turned serious.
"This isn't just adultery," he said.
"This could be fraud."

Over the next few weeks, we uncovered something even worse.
Michael had secretly opened accounts in my name.
He had forged signatures.
And he had already moved thousands of dollars without my knowledge.
But he didn't know one thing.
I wasn't signing another document.
