Chapter 2 – The Fall of a King

The next morning, Gavin arrived at his office expecting another normal day.

Instead, security stopped him at the entrance.

"What is this?" he demanded.

The guard avoided eye contact.

"Sir, your access has been revoked."

Gavin laughed.

Then he tried his key card.

Nothing.

Again.

Nothing.

His phone rang.

It was the board of directors.

The emergency meeting lasted only twenty minutes.

By the end, Gavin had lost everything.

Every board member had received copies of the evidence showing years of financial misconduct, hidden debts, and misuse of company funds.

The investigation started immediately.

Investors fled.

Contracts disappeared.

Stock values collapsed.

News outlets picked up the story within hours.

Meanwhile, Helen sat in her mansion staring at a legal notice.

The property was being repossessed.

The house she loved so much had been used as collateral against loans she never knew existed.

By sunset, the family that once laughed at Isla was fighting among themselves.

Everyone blamed Gavin.

Everyone denied responsibility.

No one accepted guilt.

But one thing hurt Gavin more than losing money.

Isla had left.

She moved into my guest house and filed for divorce the very same day.

When the court issued a temporary protective order based on witness statements and photographs of her injuries, Gavin finally realized he could no longer control her.

He called her dozens of times.

She never answered.

For the first time in years, Isla slept peacefully.

And for the first time, Gavin faced consequences.

But the biggest surprise was still coming.

Because someone had secretly recorded the family dinner.
