Chapter 3 - The Uninvited Guests

Smoke grenades didn't roll through the front doors—there was no need for theatrics. Instead, four men in unmarked tactical gear walked through the shattered threshold with calm, terrifying deliberation. Their weapons were pointed downward, but their posture radiated absolute dominance.
“What the hell is this?!” Richard screamed, lunging forward, his face purple with rage. “Private property! I’ll have you all arrested! Do you know who I am?!”
The lead tactical operator stopped five feet from Richard, slowly lowering his night-vision goggles to reveal a scarred, expressionless face. It was Ghost.
“Mr. Richard Vance?” Ghost’s voice was a flat, lethal drone.
“Yes! And you’re trespassing—!”
Ghost didn't argue. He simply raised a heavy-duty corporate tablet and tapped the screen.
Instantly, the wall-mounted smart television in the grand parlor flickered to life. Instead of the Easter broadcast, the screen displayed live security feeds of the Oakwood Police Department. Half a dozen local officers—including the police chief who had been eating barbecue in Richard's backyard just an hour earlier—were currently being zip-tied and led out of the precinct in handcuffs by federal agents.
Beneath the video, a scrolling bank ledger flashed bright red: VANCE INDUSTRIES: ASSETS FORFEITED. BANKRUPTCY DECLARED.
Richard staggered backward, his knees hitting the edge of a mahogany table. “No… no, this isn't real. This is a computer glitch! My family owns this town!”
“Your family owned a rigged game,” Ghost said coldly, stepping closer. “And the table just got flipped.”
Eleanor shrieked, clutching her pearls. “Where is Arthur?! That pathetic old man—this is his fault! Call the governor! Call someone!”
“Arthur isn't an old man,” Ghost replied, a grim shadow of a smile touching his lips. “He’s the man who trained us. And right now, he’s sitting with his daughter.”
Before Richard could lunge or scream, two more operatives flanked him, grabbing his arms with a grip like hydraulic clamps. They didn't hit him. They didn't break his jaw. They simply shoved him down onto his knees on the very same white Persian rug stained with his wife's blood.
“You’re coming with us, Mr. Vance,” Ghost said, pulling a pair of heavy tactical zip-ties from his belt. “There’s a federal grand jury waiting in Chicago with a few questions about your offshore accounts, your corporate fraud, and a pattern of domestic assault that dates back six years.”
“You can’t do this!” Richard wept, his arrogance entirely shattered, reduced to a pathetic, sobbing mess as the plastic restraints clicked tight around his wrists. “I have rights! I want my lawyer!”

“Your lawyers were arrested twenty minutes ago,” Ghost said smoothly, hauling him to his feet.
As they dragged Richard and Eleanor toward the shattered front doors, the magnificent Vance estate—the symbol of their untouchable power, built on ego, corruption, and cruelty—stood completely hollowed out.
