The wedding hall remained frozen long after Julian and his mother disappeared through the grand doors.

Vanessa stood alone at the altar.

Humiliation burned across her face.

"Julian!" she screamed. "You can't leave me like this!"

But the doors had already closed.

Outside, Julian guided his mother into a waiting car.

She wiped tears from her cheeks.

"Son, you shouldn't have done that."

Julian looked at her in disbelief.

"She pushed you."

His mother lowered her eyes.

"I'm used to people looking down on me."
